june vegetable pictures + first CSA newsletter

It has been rainy this week up at Northland. Preparation for CSA and market are in full swing and the vegetables are coming on strong. Weeding is the main task these days, punctuated by transplanting and direct seeding in the limited dry windows. We can't get into the field with the horses right now (too muddy) so Dickie Brown, the trusty wheel hoe (see photo below), has been put into service, though he does a little better when the ground's a bit more firm. In addition to the photos posted below, there are more here. Our first CSA newsletter went out the other day and you can take a look at that here.

 Salad mix

Good ol Dickie Brown, named after a farmer friend from Massachusettes. He was about 70 at the time and when we arrived on the farm at 7 each morning, he had already been out there for two hours, working the wheel hoe up and down row after row.

Pesto season is coming!!!
